The
site, which lies adjacent to Reading Station, is a collection of
tired, outdated and obsolete buildings, mostly constructed in the
early 1970s.
Much
of the area is currently inaccessible, under-utilised and of extremely
poor architectural quality. The existing routes through the site
are unpleasant to walk along and even threatening.
Sackville’s
proposals will dramatically transform the area by replacing the
current buildings with a development of high architectural quality
- with a variety of uses and better access - that will meet the
demands of the 21st Century and provide an appropriate setting
for a new, much improved station and transport interchange. |
