Socio-Economic Characteristics

Station Hill will provide up to around 75,000 sq m of office space and up to 624 residential units within close proximity to each other. The office space could generate around 4,000 employment opportunities while the residential element could be home to some 1,200 people. This is an excellent opportunity for synergy and for residents to live and work within the same location.

In addition, developing this level of centrally located office space adjacent to the Station Interchange will reduce the pressure for less sustainable out-of-town office development. Station Hill is at the core of Reading’s transport network and so will enable employees to access the site by sustainable public transport modes in addition to walking and cycling.

Station Hill will also provide a health and fitness facility, community space and retail, restaurants, cafes and bars at ground floor and mezzanine levels. This, together with the arts/cultural space will further optimise its capacity for self-containment.
